Week 3

This week I prototyped my initial app mock up with Flynn & Alicia.

The following was the feedback I received:

- On the face scanning page the text is too small and they were also unsure on the meaning of papules and pustules. Also for a first time user an onboarding about how the scanner works would be useful.

- Text should also be bigger in the diary entry portion where the user is selecting skin type.

- They're unsure of the meaning of face skin data, there is no scaling on the graphs which didn't give them much insight. As with the analysis portion, an onboarding or introduction could be useful. However, they also mentioned that for someone with bad skin, seeing how many breakouts or the area of breakouts they've got could be quite intimidating or invasive. Perhaps examining how dermatologists grade breakouts could be a more effective way to track users acne. That would also be more clinical and less abrupt.

- Aesthetically, its clean and simple which they like and they found the colouring system effective for determining the severity of breakouts.

- Some refinement on the profile and comparisons is necessary. Simplifying it, as at the moment its quite complicated and confusing.

- Also the diary entry portion of the app should be before the scanning as seeing the results of the analysis could impact their perceptions and therefore mood of their skin.

- In the connect tab, they suggested the use of a feed, or option of chatting to a real person was far preferred over an AI. They also mentioned that they personally felt the connection element didn't need to be between acne sufferers, but rather between the sufferer and somewhere they can get help. By doing this it empowers the sufferer to be able to take back control in a less daunting manner.

- Option of sharing your scan with an expert so they can analyse it when chatting.

- Additionally in the diary portion, the option to add if you did anything differently, or if you were going through any hormonal changes which could contribute to it.

Next Steps:

- Research into the tool dermatologists use to grade acne, if there is a way to make this the same as the users emotive response it will make the comparison between how bad they think their acne is vs. how bad it actually is a lot easier.
